The 1884 B&O depot in the middle of Oakland, restored and run as a railroad museum. Model trains, telegraph equipment and station fittings inside; a Baldwin steam locomotive and a caboose parked outside. Open every day, which almost nothing else here is.

Oakland, Maryland B&O Museum: visit us — The operator. Gives "Open Every Day, 10 am to 3 pm", the East Liberty Street address, the gift shop, the volunteer-led tours, and the indoor and outdoor exhibits. Publishes no admission price and no phone number.
Oakland B&O Museum: the 1920 Baldwin Steam Locomotive plaque — Interpretive plaque on the plaza, photographed 5 August 2026. Gives the engine's full history: built 1920 by Baldwin as number 40 for the Jonesboro, Lake City and Eastern Railroad, renumbered 76 in 1925, sold to the Mississippian Railway in 1947, then to a Pennsylvania scenic railway in 1967 and the Gettysburg line, then to the Steam Railroading Institute in 2005. Bought by the museum in 2017 with a donation from the Daniel E. Offutt III Charitable Trust, moved to Oakland in July 2018 and restored for display by Diversified Rail Services. Renumbered 476 because it resembles the B&O E-39 class.
